Valdir dos Santos
Psychoanalyst
Portuguese/ English
Valdir is a humanistic and holistic therapist, as well as an analyst, whose work is primarily oriented toward clinical listening and emotional care, informed by psychoanalytic references. He began his professional journey in 1972 as a psychiatric assistant, supporting psychiatrists in child mental health settings with a Freudian orientation. Since then, he has developed extensive experience working with children and adolescents, including within the Comunidade Terapêutica in Brazil. This early clinical exposure laid the foundation for his enduring interest in psychic functioning and human relationships, guiding his path toward clinical listening. Over the years, Valdir has deepened his training across several fields, including psychoanalysis, psychodrama, psychomotricity, and psychopedagogy. This multidisciplinary background informs a clinical practice focused on understanding unconscious processes, affective bonds, and subjective dynamics. He has also worked as a support worker, focusing on the social integration and emotional wellbeing of children, adolescents, and families, always grounded in an ethical and attentive clinical stance. In addition, he brings experience in mediation and conflict resolution, contributing to the restoration of dialogue in both family and institutional contexts. Valdir currently offers clinical consultations both in person and online. His work remains centred on psychoanalytic listening, care, and a thoughtful engagement with psychic suffering.
