About Vozes Lusófonas

Founded in April 2024 by Lalangue Institute, Vozes Lusófonas is a community project that supports the emotional wellbeing of the middle-aged and elderly Portuguese-speaking community in Sydney — who may experience isolation or disconnection. It counts over 100 individuals who have registered and participated at various times. Led by mental health professionals and volunteers from other areas, the group offers monthly gatherings that blend conversation, cultural sharing, and mental health support. Participants engage in reflective discussions, social connection, and activities designed to foster belonging and vitality. The initiative aims to reduce isolation, strengthen community ties, and create a culturally safe space where stories, memories, and emotions can be shared.

From July 2025, the project has been developed within CASA Lalangue, strengthening its continuity and alignment with CASA’s broader community and mental health work.
